Promoting gender equality and advancing women's participation

Institutional project, with support of Open Society Institute, New York and Soros Foundation Moldova. Total amount; 103.894 USD (2008-2009). The funds are distributed among 4 CPD's program to support activities aiming at gender eqaulity promotion and women's advancement in Moldova. Also, these funds cover all maintenance expenses of CPD and capacity building activities for CPD's team, according to the CPD personnel strategy.In 2010 CPD will be awarded for the institutional support by OSI with a total amount of 34.000 USD.

CPD is implementing this project based on the initiative of the UNIFEM project in Moldova. CPD is coordinating a group of experts who analyzed the Labor Code and developed recommendations for its improvements from gender perspective. This approach to the legal framework of Republic of Moldova is expecting to increase women's employability and also to meet national and international commitments for gender equality achievement in Moldova.

A joint project implemented in partnership with the Ukrainian Women’s Fund during witch 160 local civil servants participated at practical trainings on 3R method. All participants were encouraged to gender mainstream their activities.

The general objective of the project was to promote gender equality within 2009 national electoral process in Moldova. Main activities :
(1). Advocating for gender equality within political parties, mass-media institutions, electoral commission and NGOs for 2009 national elections;
(2.) Building expertise within political parties, mass-media institutions, electoral commission and NGOs to promote gender equality;
(3.) Empowering voters to be more aware of gender issues in elections by requesting and asking for gender mainstreaming in the electoral platforms and political parties’ agendas;

A pilot project supported by the Soros Foundation in Moldova to develop the capacity of local civil society to promote transparency and gender equality within the local government of Causeni town. CPD worked closely with a community group from Causeni town.
